Regular Season Round 21: Toyoda - Shizuoka 68-85

Very expected game in Aichi where 12th ranked Toyoda (7-15) was defeated by second ranked Shizuoka (20-2) 85-68 on Sunday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shizuoka made 7 blocks. American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) stepped up and scored 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and point guard Kentaro Yoshida (173-1995) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (198-1991, college: Missouri, agency: Haylett Sports) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and German center Yasin Kolo (208-1992, college: Bellarmine) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shizuoka have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Kagoshima. Toyoda at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Shanan Utd. Shizuoka is looking forward to face Tachikawa (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Toyoda will play against Tokyo HT and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
