Very important is a road loss of third ranked Yokohama BC (10-10) against sixth ranked Sendai 89ers (7-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Yokohama BC was crushed by Sendai 89ers in Sendai 72-53. Sendai 89ers had a 37-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The winners were led by American Nathan Boothe (206-1994, college: Toledo) who scored that evening 26 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) supported him with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers' coach Hiroki Fujita allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds by American Devin Oliver (204-1992, college: Dayton) did not help to save the game for Yokohama BC. The former international guard Yuki Kawamura (169-2001) added 17 points and 4 assists for the guests. Newly promoted Sendai 89ers maintains sixth position with 7-13 record, which they share with Kyoto H. Yokohama BC at the other side keeps the third place with ten games lost. They share the position with Shinshu BW. Sendai 89ers will again play against higher ranked Yokohama BC (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Yokohama BC will have a break next round.
