Date: December 17, 2022
Rather predictable result when thirteenth ranked Aviators (7-6) won against 15th ranked Flying Tigers (6-8) in Shenzhen 96-88 on Saturday. Aviators forced 24 Flying Tigers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Jared Sullinger (206-1992, college: Ohio St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Haotian Bai (194-1999) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. The former international Abudurexiti Abudushalamu (203-1996) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and Senegalese center Tacko Fall (231-1995, college: UCF) added 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) respectively for Flying Tigers in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Flying Tigers' coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aviators. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Shanghai S. Loser Flying Tigers keep the fifteenth position with eight games lost. Aviators will meet at home higher ranked Heroes (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Flying Tigers will play against Rockets (#20) and hope to secure a win.
