Regular Season Round 20: Sea Horses M. - Ryukyu GK 65-76

There was no surprise in Kariya where 6th ranked Sea Horses M. (8-12) was defeated by first ranked Ryukyu GK (17-3) 76-65 on Saturday. Ryukyu GK outrebounded Sea Horses M. 41-23 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. American power forward Davante Gardner (203-1991, college: Marquette) produced 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Yudai Nishida (188-1999) added 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ryukyu GK have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-3 record. Loser Sea Horses M. keeps the sixth place with 12 games lost. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sea Horses M. will play again against the league's leader Ryukyu GK (#1) and hope to secure a win.
