Regular Season Round 20: Kanazawa - Tokyo HT 81-76
Date: December 17, 2022
There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Kanazawa (8-14) defeated 9th ranked Tokyo HT (8-14) in Ishikawa 81-76 on Saturday. Kanazawa forced 20 Tokyo HT turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Ukrainian guard Yakiv Titov (195-1999, agency: BIG) who scored that evening 19 points and 5 rebounds and Ukrainian point guard Igor Boyarkin (182-1995, agency: BIG) supported him with 16 points and 9 assists. Even 14 points and 9 rebounds by American power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Tokyo HT. His fellow American import power forward Justin Baker (203-1989, college: Utah Valley) added 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tokyo HT's coach Keisuke Hirose rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kanazawa moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Tokyo HT and Veertien Mie. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
