Regular Season Round 14: Guangsha L. - Jiangsu D. 108-104

There was a minor upset in Hangzhou where 9th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (8-7) were defeated by twelfth ranked Guangsha Lions (9-8) 108-104 on Friday. Guangsha Lions made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Jiangsu Dragons outrebounded Guangsha Lions 46-32 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Canadian power forward Kyle Wiltjer (206-1992, college: Gonzaga) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Minghui Sun (187-1996) chipped in 22 points and 8 assists. American guard Antonio Blakeney (193-1996, college: LSU) produced a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Zhou Zhao (198-1995) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Guangsha Lions moved-up to ninth place. Jiangsu Dragons lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Jilin NE T.. Guangsha Lions will meet higher ranked Sharks (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jiangsu Dragons will play against Long-Lions in Guangzhou and hope to secure a win.
