Regular Season Round 20: Shanan Utd - Gifu 60-88
Date: December 16, 2022
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Gifu (9-13) crushed 13th ranked Shanan Utd (7-15) in Kanagawa 88-60 on Friday. Gifu outrebounded Shanan Utd 53-38 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) who scored that evening 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Noah Dahlman (202-1989, college: Wofford) supported him with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Four Gifu players scored in double figures. Even 25 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Chris Olivier (202-1992, college: OK State, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Shanan Utd. Hiroto Tamada (179-1993) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gifu have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 9-13 record. Shanan Utd lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
