The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Astana Tigers (9-1) in Turkistan on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by Turan (9-0) 71-57. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Astana Tigers. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Turan forced 24 Astana Tigers turnovers. Strangely Astana Tigers outrebounded Turan 42-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Anastassiya Alishauskayte (173-1988) who scored 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Ukrainian power forward Ganna Rulyova (183-1986, agency: BIG) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Turan players scored in double figures. The former international forward Tamara Kuzmina (183-1990) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Daria Koroleva (182-1988) added 16 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. Turan have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Astana Tigers at the other side keep the second position with one game lost. Turan are looking forward to face Tomiris (#3) in Almaty in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Astana Tigers will have a break next round.
