There was no surprise in Nur-Sultan where 5th ranked Gotobeles (7-10) were crushed by second ranked Almaty L. (13-4) 107-70 on Friday. Almaty L. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gotobeles' 36 and had 18 for 24 from the free-throw line, while Gotobeles only scored one point from the stripe. Almaty L. forced 26 Gotobeles turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Nikita Timofeev (199-1998) scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Nikita Fedchenko (190-2004) chipped in 19 points and 8 steals during the contest. Five Almaty L. players scored in double figures. Almaty L.'s coach Nikolai Tanaseychuk felt very confident that he used 10 players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-1998) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Tair Meirahanov (183-2000) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Newly promoted Almaty L. maintains second position with 13-4 record having just three points less than leader Bars. Gotobeles at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Barsy 2. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
