Regular Season Round 16: Kawasaki BT - Shimane SM 80-64

Rather predictable result when second ranked Kawasaki BT (9-7) won against one of their biggest challengers Shimane SM (12-4) in Kanagawa 80-64 on Sunday. Kawasaki BT outrebounded Shimane SM 47-33 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by the former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-1985, college: Nevada) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and American power forward Michael Young (206-1994, college: Pittsburgh) supported him with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Even 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) did not help to save the game for Shimane SM. American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) added 12 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Kawasaki BT maintains second position with 9-7 record behind leader Ryukyu GK which they share with defeated Shimane SM. Loser Shimane SM dropped to the second place with four games lost. They share the position with Nagoya DD and Hiroshima D.. Kawasaki BT will meet Akita NH (#5) on the road in the next round. Shimane SM will play against the league's leader Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
