Regular Season Round 16: Shinagawa - Shizuoka 59-81
Date: December 2, 2022
There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Shinagawa (0-18) was crushed at home by second ranked Shizuoka (16-2) 81-59 on Friday. Shizuoka outrebounded Shinagawa 38-21 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Bahamas forward Tavario Miller (203-1994, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Atomu Yamada (179-1998) who added 17 points and 5 assists during the contest. Miller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Shizuoka players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward AJ Bramah (201-1999, college: Nevada) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and guard Ryota Nagasawa (189-1997) scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shizuoka keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Kagoshima. Loser Shinagawa still closes the standings. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
