Very significant was Sendai 89ers' (#7) 85-77 road victory against 8th ranked Ibaraki R.. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) supported him with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) did not help to save the game for Ibaraki R.. Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
