Regular Season Round 14: Iwate - Veertien Mie 89-63

Very expected game when 13th ranked Veertien Mie (4-11) was smashed on the road by fourth ranked Iwate (12-3) 89-63 on Saturday. Iwate outrebounded Veertien Mie 42-21 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-1996, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 18 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Harumichi Ishikawa (170-1999) supported him with 15 points. Four Iwate players scored in double figures. Even 21 points by American Eugene Artison (206-1995, college: USAO, agency: One Motive Sports) did not help to save the game for Veertien Mie. His fellow American import forward Josh Martin (201-1995, college: Santa Clara) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Iwate have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Yokohama EX and Okayama. Veertien Mie lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Iwate will again meet at home Veertien Mie (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Veertien Mie will have a break next round.
