Top ranked Tobol (8-2) recorded its second loss in Kostanay on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Barsy Atyrau (4-6) 88-75. Barsy Atyrau looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Tobol helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American power forward Devin Gilmore (200-1997, college: Murray St.) who scored 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Eric McGill (190-1996, college: SIU) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Four Barsy Atyrau players scored in double figures. International point guard Shaim Kuanov (181-1991) produced 13 points and 8 assists and Russian power forward Kirill Gornaev (202-1996) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Barsy Atyrau maintains fourth place with 4-6 record. Tobol at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Barsy Atyrau will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tobol will play again on the road against Barsy Atyrau and is hoping to win this game.
