No shocking result in a game in Tokyo where second ranked Hitachi SRT (7-4) edged 5th ranked Ibaraki R. (4-7) 97-95 on Sunday. Strangely Ibaraki R. outrebounded Hitachi SRT 34-19 including 21 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American Ryan Kelly (211-1991, college: Duke) who scored 31 points. Guard Kosuke Ishii (182-1987) chipped in 9 points and 9 assists. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) produced 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Thomas Kennedy (201-1987, college: Detroit) added 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Hitachi SRT maintains second place with 7-4 record behind leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Alvark Tokyo. Ibaraki R. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Hitachi SRT will meet at home Hokkaido L. (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
