The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Hotshots as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Hotshots defeated 9th ranked SM Beermen in Pasig City 85-80. Hotshots forced 19 SM Beermen turnovers and outrebounded them 58-32 including a 20-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Serbian-American forward Nick Rakocevic (211-1997, college: USC, agency: Pensack Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 28 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Ian Paul Sangalang (201-1991) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. American power forward Devon Scott (206-1994, college: Dayton) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Vic Manuel (193-1987) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hotshots have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Defending champion SM Beermen dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. SM Beermen will play next round against Phoenix trying to get back on the winning streak. Hotshots will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Bay Area D. in Hong Kong.
