The game in Pavlodar supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Astana Tigers (7-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Irtysh (4-4). Astana Tigers smashed Irtysh 71-29 on Friday. Astana Tigers held Irtysh to an opponent 16.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Irtysh 54-18 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Astana Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Irtysh's players. The winners were led by the former international center Anna Bezgodova (192-1992) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Anastasia Knaub (184-2005) supported her with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Even 5 points by point guard Liya Umerova (166-2002) did not help to save the game for Irtysh. Guard Erzada Karimova (175-2003) added 7 points for the hosts. Irtysh's coach Andreii Mekhovykh already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Astana Tigers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Tomiris. Irtysh lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with four games lost. Astana Tigers will meet at home Tomiris (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Irtysh will play against Karaganda and hope to secure a win.
