Important game to mention about took place in Manila. Fifth ranked Ginebra Kings (5-2) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked SM Beermen (3-4) 97-96 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SM Beermen. Ginebra Kings forced 19 SM Beermen turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Ginebra Kings brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Guard Scottie Thompson (188-1993) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Ginebra Kings' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American power forward Devon Scott (206-1994, college: Dayton) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jaymar Perez (188-1993) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for SM Beermen. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ginebra Kings have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion SM Beermen keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with NLEX RW. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
