Regular Season Round 8: Veertien Mie - Tokyo Utd 79-100

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Veertien Mie (3-6) was smashed by eighth ranked Tokyo Utd (5-4) in Yokkaichi 100-79 on Saturday. Tokyo Utd forced 19 Veertien Mie turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American swingman Michael Craig (196-1991, college: Southern Miss) who scored that evening 14 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and South Sudanese-American center Angelo Chol (206-1993, college: SDSU) supported him with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Tokyo Utd players scored in double figures. Even 24 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Tucker Haymond (198-1994, college: W.Michigan) did not help to save the game for Veertien Mie. His fellow American import Eugene Artison (206-1995, college: USAO, agency: One Motive Sports) added 12 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tokyo Utd have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Tokyo HT. Veertien Mie lost sixth consecutive game. Veertien Mie at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with Toyoda. Tokyo Utd will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Veertien Mie will play again against Tokyo Utd (#8) and hope to secure a win.
