Regular Season Round 8: Shanan Utd - Okayama 58-97
Date: November 5, 2022
B3 League top team - Okayama (9-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Shanan Utd (4-6) in Kanagawa 97-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shanan Utd. Okayama dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Shanan Utd's 26. Okayama forced 23 Shanan Utd turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Shanan Utd's players. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by power forward DeVaughn Washington (203-1989, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) who scored that evening 20 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Andrew Robinson (201-1996, college: Coppin St.) supported him with 17 points. Four Okayama players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by forward Chris Olivier (202-1992, college: OK State, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Shanan Utd. Forward Steven Green (196-1993, college: OKBU) added 13 points for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Okayama maintains first position with 9-1 record. Newly promoted Shanan Utd dropped to the tenth place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
