Regular Season Round 12: Bay Area D. - Meralco Bolts 89-92

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Bay Area D. (6-2) in Hong Kong on Friday night. Hosts were edged by twelfth ranked Meralco Bolts (2-5) 92-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bay Area D.. Meralco Bolts dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Bay Area D.'s 34 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Bay Area D. 53-42 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Bay Area D. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman K.J. McDaniels (198-1993, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 8 rebounds and center Raymond Almazan (206-1989) who added 14 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. Five Meralco Bolts players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian Andrew Nicholson (206-1989, college: St.Bonaventure) with a double-double by scoring 50 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and Canadian guard Kobey Lam (190-2000, college: Charleston) scored 23 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Meralco Bolts maintains twelfth position with 2-5 record. Newly promoted Bay Area D. still keeps top place with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
