There was a small surprise when seventeenth ranked Sharks (3-6) beat 14th ranked Aviators (4-5) in Shanghai 103-99 on Thursday. Sharks looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by American guard Melo Trimble (190-1995, college: Maryland, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored that evening 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the former international center Zhelin Wang (214-1994) supported him with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists by American guard Askia Booker (186-1993, college: Colorado) did not help to save the game for Aviators. The former international center Zijie Shen (210-1997) added 10 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Four Sharks and five Aviators players scored in double figures. Aviators' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sharks moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Tianjin. Loser Aviators dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Sharks will meet higher ranked Royal Fighters (#10) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Aviators will play against Pioneers and hope to secure a win.
