Regular Season Round 7: Iwate - Toyoda 71-65

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Toyoda (2-6) was defeated on the road by third ranked Iwate (7-1) 71-65 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a great evening for American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Point guard Toshiki Yokogawa (177-1995) helped adding 19 points. Iwate's coach Yukinori Suzuki allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (198-1991, college: Missouri, agency: Haylett Sports) responded with 14 points and 4 assists and American center Joe Wolfinger (214-1985, college: Citadel) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Toyoda players scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Iwate. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kagoshima and Shizuoka. Toyoda lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with six games lost. They share it with Yamaguchi. Iwate will meet Shizuoka (#4) on the road in the next round. Toyoda will play against Yamaguchi (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
