Regular Season Round 7: Tokyo HT - Gifu 77-64

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Tokyo HT (4-4) defeated at home 14th ranked Gifu (1-7) 77-64 on Sunday. They outrebounded Gifu 48-36 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American power forward Justin Baker (203-1989, college: Utah Valley) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 10 points and 14 rebounds. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Tokyo HT players scored in double figures. At the losing side Lithuanian center Matas Jucikas (205-1994, agency: BIG) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Morito Koga (190-1998) scored 14 points. Gifu's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tokyo HT. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Tokyo Utd. Gifu lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Tachikawa. Tokyo HT will meet Tachikawa (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gifu will play against Kanazawa and hope to win that game.
