Regular Season Round 7: Sendai 89ers - Shinshu BW 67-54

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Shinshu BW (3-4) lost on the road to eighth ranked Sendai 89ers (3-4) 67-54 on Saturday. Sendai 89ers outrebounded Shinshu BW 40-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. American center Wayne Marshall (211-1986, college: Temple) came up with 9 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Reo Maeda (191-1997) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Shinshu BW in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Sendai 89ers moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Shinshu BW. Sendai 89ers will again meet at home Shinshu BW (#5) in the next round. Shinshu BW will have a break next round.
