Regular Season Round 9: SM Beermen - FiberXers 102-106

Rather predictable result in Manila where seventh ranked FiberXers (3-2) defeated 11th ranked SM Beermen (1-3) 106-102. FiberXers players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 12 blocks. American forward Quincy Miller-Scott (206-1992, college: Baylor) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 9 blocks for the winning side and guard Aljun Melecio accounted for 18 points and 7 assists. Five FiberXers players scored in double figures. Guard Jaymar Perez (188-1993) came up with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American power forward Devon Scott (206-1994, college: Dayton) added 16 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for SM Beermen in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. FiberXers moved-up to third place, which they share with NLEX RW. Defending champion SM Beermen keeps the eleventh position with three games lost. FiberXers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. SM Beermen will play on the road against NLEX RW (#4) in Makati City to get more than just one victory in their record.
