Regular Season Round 4: Shandong H. - Guangdong ST 96-95
Date: October 19, 2022
Everything went according to plan in Jinan where fifth ranked Heroes (3-1) edged 12th ranked Guandong Tigers (1-2) 96-95 on Wednesday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Heroes made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Guandong Tigers turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Brandon Paul (193-1991, college: Illinois, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and center Haolong Jiao (208-1996) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Heroes players scored in double figures. At the losing side American MarShon Brooks (197-1989, college: Providence) responded with 32 points, 9 assists and 4 steals and the former international Rui Zhao (195-1996) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Guandong Tigers' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Heroes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Shanxi L. and Xinjiang FT. Defending champion Guandong Tigers dropped to the fourteenth position with two games lost. Heroes will meet at home Pioneers (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guandong Tigers will play against Sharks and hope to win that game.
