Regular Season Round 6: Chiba Jets - Hitachi SRT 96-93

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Chiba Jets as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Chiba Jets edged top-ranked Hitachi SRT at home 96-93. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Chiba Jets looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward John Mooney (206-1998, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-1993) chipped in 26 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Kevin Jones (206-1989, college: WVU) who recorded 50 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and international point guard Leo Vendrame (183-1993) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Hitachi SRT. Hitachi SRT will play next round against strong Shimane SM trying to get back on the winning streak. Chiba Jets will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Shiga L-Stars at home.
