Regular Season Round 5: Chiba Jets - Hitachi SRT 87-90

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both first ranked Hitachi SRT and second-ranked Chiba Jets had identical 3-1 record. But Chiba Jets were not able to use a home court advantage and were edged by the opponent from Tokyo 90-87 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was a great shooting night for Hitachi SRT especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward John Mooney (206-1998, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds and forward Victor Law (201-1995, college: Northwestern, agency: Pensack Sports) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hitachi SRT maintains first place with 4-1 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Chiba Jets still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Hitachi SRT will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chiba Jets will play again against the league's leader Hitachi SRT and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
