Regular Season Round 4: Veertien Mie - Okayama 88-96

Rather expected game in Yokkaichi where 5th ranked Veertien Mie (3-2) was defeated by top-ranked Okayama (5-0) 96-88 on Saturday. Okayama made 31-of-39 free shots (79.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Veertien Mie outrebounded Okayama 42-27 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum (206-1991) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Makoto Higuchi (177-1992) who added 15 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Josh Martin (201-1995, college: Santa Clara) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import Eugene Artison (206-1995, college: USAO, agency: One Motive Sports) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Five Veertien Mie players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Okayama have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Kagoshima. Newly promoted Veertien Mie dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. Okayama will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Veertien Mie will play again against the league's second-placed Okayama (#2) and hope to secure a win.
