Regular Season Round 5: Shimane SM - Akita NH 78-63

There was a change at the B1 League leadership position after last games. Round 5 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Akita NH (3-2). They were defeated by third ranked Shimane SM (4-1) 78-63 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-1990) responded with 20 points and Turkish Kerem Kanter (207-1995, college: Xavier) scored 4 points and 12 rebounds. Akita NH's coach Kenzo Maeda rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shimane SM keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Akita NH at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Hitachi SRT who have the same record. Akita NH will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Shimane SM will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Akita NH at home.
