Regular Season Round 3: Nagasaki - Kagawa FA 90-81

There was no surprise when Kagawa FA (1-3) was defeated on the road by Nagasaki (3-1) 90-81 on Saturday. Nagasaki forced 21 Kagawa FA turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-1980, college: Otterbein) helped adding 17 points and 11 rebounds. Four Nagasaki players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Australian center Angus Brandt (208-1989, college: Oregon St.) with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Australian forward Rhys Vague (206-1996) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Nagasaki will meet at home Aomori W. (#5) in the next round. Kagawa FA will play against Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
