Regular Season Round 4: Meralco Bolts - Ginebra Kings 91-99

Ginebra Kings can celebrate their first win this season after one consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Manila, where they defeated Meralco Bolts (0-2) 99-91. Ginebra Kings made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Meralco Bolts were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Scottie Thompson (188-1993) contributed with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Johnny O'Bryant III (207-1993, college: LSU, agency: Slash Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Aaron Black added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists in the effort for Meralco Bolts. Five Ginebra Kings and four Meralco Bolts players scored in double figures. Meralco Bolts' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ginebra Kings (1-1) left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with FiberXers. Meralco Bolts at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. Ginebra Kings will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Meralco Bolts will play on the road against Terrafirma Dyip (#13) in Makati City and hope to get finally their first victory.
