Regular Season Round 11: TNT Tropang - SM Beermen 99-115

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of TNT Tropang (7-3) in Makati on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by SM Beermen (7-1) 115-99. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of TNT Tropang. SM Beermen dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to TNT Tropang's 50. They outrebounded TNT Tropang 55-37 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. SM Beermen looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was center June Mar Fajardo (210-1989) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds. Guamanian guard Jericho Cruz (182-1990) chipped in 30 points. Forward Kelly Williams (201-1982, college: Oakland) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jayson Castro William (180-1986) added 17 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SM Beermen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. TNT Tropang at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
