Blackwater Elite (1-1) recorded a loss in Caloocan City. Hosts were edged by Ginebra Kings (1-0) 85-82. Ginebra Kings players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a great evening for guard Scottie Thompson (188-1993) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists. Naturalized German forward Christian Standhardinger (206-1989, college: Hawaii) helped adding 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was center Yousef Taha (201-1988, college: North Lake CC) with 9 points and 13 rebounds and Rey Suerte (192-1994) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Ginebra Kings' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Manila Rain or Shine.
