Regular Season Round 59: Kawasaki BT - Alvark Tokyo 76-68

Round in B1 League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Kanagawa where host Kawasaki BT (39-13) beat league's leader Alvark Tokyo (38-12) 76-68 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Alvark Tokyo. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Alvark Tokyo 39-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-1985, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international point guard Yuma Fujii (178-1991) chipped in 16 points. Four Kawasaki BT players scored in double figures. Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-1994, college: Ole Miss) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the former international guard Shuto Ando (189-1994) added 10 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kawasaki BT have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Shimane SM. Alvark Tokyo at the other side dropped to the second place with 12 games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Ryukyu GK. Alvark Tokyo will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Kawasaki BT will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Alvark Tokyo at home.
