An interesting game for Sendai 89ers (31-15) which hosted in Sendai second-best Fukushima (31-16). Third ranked Sendai 89ers had an easy win 90-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Fukushima. It was a key game for the second position in the league. They outrebounded Fukushima 52-30 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sendai 89ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American Devin Oliver (204-1992, college: Dayton) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import center Jerome Meyinsse (208-1988, college: Virginia) accounted for 18 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. American-Finnish forward Alex Murphy (206-1993, college: Northeastern) came up with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Bulgarian center Jason Washburn (213-1990, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) added 4 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Fukushima in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sendai 89ers moved-up to second place. Loser Fukushima dropped to the third position with 16 games lost. Sendai 89ers will again meet at home Fukushima (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Fukushima will have a break next round.
