Regular Season Round 16: Lioneers - Pilots 116-97
Date: April 1, 2022
Rather predictable result when third ranked Lioneers (12-9) rolled over 5th ranked Pilots (6-14) 116-97 on Friday. Lioneers dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Pilots' 46 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Lioneers had a 40-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by Indian-Canadian center Sim Bhullar (226-1992, college: NM State) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 22 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and point guard Kuo-Hao Kao (179-1998) supported him with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Even 27 points and 5 rebounds by Serbian center Nemanja Besovic (221-1992) did not help to save the game for Pilots. American forward Devin Robinson (203-1995, college: Florida) added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for lost side. Five Lioneers and four Pilots players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lioneers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 12-9 record having just one point less than leader Kings. Pilots lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 14 games lost. Lioneers will meet league's second-placed Fubon Braves in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pilots will play against Steelers in Kaohsiung and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
