Regular Season Round 47: Ibaraki R. - Hitachi SRT 94-78

There was an upset in Mito where higher ranked Hitachi SRT (22-21) was defeated by tenth ranked Ibaraki R. (13-29) 94-78 on Sunday. Ibaraki R. made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game, while Hitachi SRT only scored eight points from the stripe. It was a great evening for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) helped adding 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. American forward Josh Harrellson (208-1989, college: Kentucky) responded with 6 points and 16 rebounds and international point guard Leo Vendrame (183-1993) scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Ibaraki R. maintains tenth place with 13-29 record. Loser Hitachi SRT keeps the sixth position with 21 games lost. Ibaraki R. will meet at home higher ranked Chiba Jets (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hitachi SRT will have a break next round.
