Regular Season Round 46: Shinshu BW - Ryukyu GK 84-87

Sixth-ranked Shinshu BW (20-23) gave a tough game to first ranked Ryukyu GK (36-4) in Nagano. The visitors from Okinawa managed to secure only three-point victory 87-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Ryukyu GK forced 20 Shinshu BW turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Shinshu BW was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Dwayne Evans (201-1992, college: St.Louis, agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 13 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds by American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-1995, college: WSU) did not help to save the game for Shinshu BW. Point guard Ko Kumagai (173-1996) added 17 points and 6 assists for lost side. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW's coach Michael Katsuhisa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ryukyu GK have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 36-4 record. Shinshu BW at the other side keeps the sixth place with 23 games lost. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shinshu BW will play again at home against the league's leader Ryukyu GK (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
