The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Toyama G.'s (16-27) road loss to sixth ranked Shinshu BW (20-22) in Nagano 71-78 on Wednesday. Shinshu BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-1995, college: WSU) nailed a double-double by scoring 31 points and 19 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Ko Kumagai (173-1996) accounted for 16 points. American forward Brice Johnson (206-1994, college: UNC) came up with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Joshua Smith (208-1992, college: Georgetown) added 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Toyama G. in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Shinshu BW maintains sixth place with 20-22 record. Toyama G. lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 27 games lost. Shinshu BW will meet at home league's leader Ryukyu GK in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toyama G. will play against Osaka E. (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
