Regular Season Round 44: Chiba Jets - Gunma CT 103-74

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Gunma CT (16-20) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Chiba Jets (25-6) 103-74 on Sunday. Chiba Jets dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Gunma CT's 38 and made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Chiba Jets forced 19 Gunma CT turnovers and outrebounded them 34-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Christopher Smith (193-1994, college: Utah St.) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Josh Duncan (203-1986) who added 26 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. Guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-1990, college: Miami, FL) responded with 16 points and 5 assists and power forward Justin Keenan (202-1989, college: Ferris St.) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba Jets have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 25-6 record. Newly promoted Gunma CT keeps the seventh place with 20 games lost. Chiba Jets will meet Yokohama BC (#8) on the road in the next round. Gunma CT will play against the league's leader Kawasaki BT and hope to secure a win.
