Regular Season Round 42: Shanghai S. - Guangsha L. 80-122

The most interesting game of round 42 was a home defeat of 3rd ranked Sharks (28-9) by second ranked Guangsha Lions (29-8) who outscored them by 42 points 122-80 in the game for the second place. Guangsha Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Sharks' 40 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Sharks 53-24 including a 39-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guangsha Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Sharks' players. Hungarian-American power forward Jarrod Jones (207-1990, college: Ball St.) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Jiaren Zhao (201-1999) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Guangsha Lions' coach Bo Wang felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Kelanbaike Makan (197-1992) with 20 points and 4 assists and point guard Hanchen Luo (184-1994) scored 18 points and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guangsha Lions maintains second position with 29-8 record having just two points less than leader Liaoning FL. Sharks at the other side keep the third place with nine games lost. Guangsha Lions are looking forward to face Jiangsu Dragons (#18) in Nanjing in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Sharks will play on the road against Loongs (#9) in Taiyuan and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
