Regular Season Round 18: Taoyuan L. - Kaohsiung A. 84-111
Date: March 19, 2022
T1 League top team - Aquas (16-5) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Leopards (4-14) in Taoyuan 111-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leopards. They outrebounded Leopards 45-29 including a 39-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aquas looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Leopards' players. Lithuanian center Mindaugas Kupsas (216-1991, agency: BIG) notched 24 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) to lead the effort and American power forward Ferrakohn Hall (203-1990, college: Memphis) supported him with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Five Aquas players scored in double figures. Even 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists by American point guard John Gillon (183-1994, college: Syracuse) did not help to save the game for Leopards. His fellow American import Deyonta Davis (208-1996, college: Michigan St.) added 17 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aquas have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-5 record. Loser Leopards keep the fifth place with 14 games lost. Aquas will meet bottom-ranked GhostHawks (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Leopards will play against Suns and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
