Regular Season Round 43: Ryukyu GK - Osaka E. 86-65

There was no surprise in Okinawa where 8th ranked Osaka E. (15-22) was outplayed by first ranked Ryukyu GK (33-4) 86-65 on Saturday. Ryukyu GK dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Osaka E.'s 28. American power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) fired 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Keita Imamura (191-1996) chipped in 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn St.) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Ira Brown (193-1982, college: Gonzaga) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ryukyu GK. They maintain first place with 33-4 record. Loser Osaka E. keeps the eighth position with 22 games lost. Ryukyu GK will again meet at home Osaka E. (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Osaka E. will have a break next round.
