Date: March 17, 2022
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beirut: Sagesse (#1) and Dynamo (#4). Dynamo was defeated at home 83-89 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Sagesse made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. International point guard Ali Mezher (182-1994) had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 18 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Christophe Khalil (192-1999) chipped in 28 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Five Sagesse players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international power forward Mohamad Haidar (203-1990, college: Michigan Tech) with 42 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Omar El Ayoubi (196-1991) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Sagesse (12-2) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Newly promoted Dynamo keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Sagesse will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dynamo will play on the road against Atlas (#8) in Zahle and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
