Regular Season Round 42: Toyama G. - Kyoto H. 66-88

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Toyama G. (16-24) was smashed at home by tenth ranked Kyoto H. (9-29) 88-66 on Wednesday. Kyoto H. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American center David Simon (208-1982, college: PFW) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Justin Harper (208-1989, college: Richmond) supported him with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Five Kyoto H. players scored in double figures. Kyoto H.'s coach Shinya Ogawa felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 21 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Brice Johnson (206-1994, college: UNC) did not help to save the game for Toyama G.. The former international forward Naoki Uto (188-1991) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Kyoto H. maintains tenth position with 9-29 record. Loser Toyama G. keeps the seventh place with 24 games lost. Kyoto H. will meet higher ranked Shiga L-Stars (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Toyama G. will play against the league's second-placed Shimane SM where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
