Regular Season Round 38: Guangsha L. - Shanghai S. 101-95

The biggest surprise took place in Hangzhou where host Guangsha Lions (27-7) beat league's leader Sharks (27-7) 101-95 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sharks. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Guangsha Lions looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Sharks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Minghui Sun (187-1996) who scored 20 points and 8 assists. The former international Yanhao Zhao (194-1997) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four Guangsha Lions players scored in double figures. The former international center Zhelin Wang (214-1994) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds and American Jamaal Franklin (196-1991, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guangsha Lions have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Shanghai S. Sharks will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Guangsha Lions will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked Eagles in Qingdao.
