Regular Season Round 40: Shimane SM - Osaka E. 68-85

The most important game in the last round took place in Shimane between second ranked Shimane SM (24-9) and eighth ranked Osaka E. (14-20) on Sunday night. Shimane SM was defeated by Osaka E. at home 85-68. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Shimane SM. Osaka E. looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists and Spanish center David Doblas (208-1981) who added 9 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and the former international power forward Nyika Williams (203-1987, college: Pacific) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Shimane SM players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Osaka E. maintains eighth position with 14-20 record. Shimane SM at the other side keeps the second place with nine games lost. Osaka E. are looking forward to face higher ranked Toyama G. (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Shimane SM will play against Kyoto H. (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
