The game in Manila was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked SM Beermen (7-4) played at the court of 5th ranked Meralco Bolts (5-4). SM Beermen managed to secure a 5-point victory 115-110. SM Beermen outrebounded Meralco Bolts 55-41 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Meralco Bolts were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American Shabazz Muhammad (198-1992, college: UCLA) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 57 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds. Center June Mar Fajardo (210-1989) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. SM Beermen's coach Leovino Austria allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-1989, college: Texas St., agency: 011 Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and Kier Quinto (188-1995) added 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Meralco Bolts. Four SM Beermen and five Meralco Bolts players scored in double figures. SM Beermen moved-up to third place. Meralco Bolts lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with TNT Ka Tropa and Phoenix. SM Beermen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Meralco Bolts will play on the road against Phoenix (#7) in Quezon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
